May 13, 2008 - The 4 Most Important Keys to Revival...

Pastor Munisi from Tanzania was speaking Sunday on “4 Most Important Keys to Revival”. We looked at how love is the force that constrains or compels us to be drawn near to God. Without love our ministry is pointless. He shared how we need to give the Word its place in our lives and ministry. We looked at how our faith causes faith to spring forth from our hearts and as our forth moves us then God responds to our faith. Even the littlest faith will bring a response from God. The greater the faith the greater the move of God in our lives. Pastor Munisi spoke of how we need to give Holy Spirit His place in the Church. Often when we try to run what God’s Spirit is doing, when we try to direct or guide what God wants to do, the fire of Holy Spirit is quenched. It’s an interesting walk with take with Jesus, because while we are to be involved in what He is doing, it is essential that we stay out of Jesus’ way by allowing Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct. How do we do that? Well, we start by yielding what we want to see happen to what He is doing in the moment. It seems to be a difficult thing to not run ahead of Holy Spirit as we “figure out” where He is going and what He is doing to do. How hard it is to wait, watch and follow.

If Holy Spirit is going to direct, it means we have to wait and do only what He directs us to do. I want to be like Jesus, and Jesus said He only did what He saw Father God doing. If that is to be true of me, of you, then we definitely need to have eyes to see spiritually to know or see what Father is doing. That one is not as easy as we think. While Holy Spirit’s anointing allows us to do many things, I often wonder how much we hinder what God would do because we are sure we know where Holy Spirit is headed or what He means by a word spoken or given to us? Don’t get me wrong, we all should want to be used by God, yet the whole giving Holy Spirit His place is an interesting thought we should mull over.

His fourth point was that we need to grow in intimacy with Father God. What a powerful truth. This is what the Bible is all about. Everything in the Bible is about knowing God personally, learning to walk and abide in His presence. It is out of this presence that signs, wonders and miracles flow. The power of God released in us is directly proportional to His presence in our life. Before someone says “We are always in God’s presence” let me say I know that. But some of us are more aware of God’s presence in our lives than others. Life, issues of work, family and friends tug at our hearts and minds and often pull our awareness of God away. It’s not that we are sinning, we just are not as tuned into God as we could be. Then we compare ourselves to others and get discouraged instead of recognizing how much we have grown in our awareness of Holy Spirit from yesterday, last month or even years ago. I think God is more pleased with us than we know or believe. Where we discover this most of the time is in worship, in our time alone with Him – just being with Father God, with our Lord Jesus. How He longs for us . . . .
