February 11, 2007 - I Know God

I shared today about knowing God.  Specifically the title was “I know God.”  It was about how throughout history people have known God.  How the Bible says that is what God wants.  Jer 9:23-24, Jer 31:33-35, Matt 11:25 – all talk about people knowing God.  Eph 1:17 is an example of Paul praying for people to receive the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so we will know Jesus better.  Jer 9 shows us that it’s not wrong or arrogant to say “I know God,” even though the world might think us strange, but whatever, in the world’s eyes we are already strange so why not embrace it?

We went to Ex 33:12-16 where Moses talks with God and God talks with Moses.  That’s what people who know God do, we talk with Him and He talks with us.  That’s all prayer is, talking with God.  I shared what it’s like to know God – hearing His voice, experiencing Him in daily life, answers to prayer, knowing Him by reading the Bible (the problem often is that what we are looking for in the Bible is what we find – if we think it’s going to be boring, it will be.  You know that saying, “Blessed are those who expect nothing for they shall not be disappointed?” well, that’s what many people find when they look through the Bible.)  But when you know God, it’s incredible.  We sang a song called One Pure and Holy Passion. Have you heard of it? Great song:

“Give me one pure and holy passion, give me one magnificent obsession, give me one glorious ambition for my life, to know and follow hard after you.

To know and follow hard after you, to live as your disciple in your truth, this world is empty pale and poor compared to knowing you my Lord, Lead me on and I will run after you, lead me on and I will run after you.”

It was a great morning.  The Lord spoke in our worship music, a prophetic song, 2 prophetic words, a person shared a vision during Praise time, a lady’s left hand was healed during our waiting on Holy Spirit to move.  Powerful morning, I thank you, Jesus, for it.  A time of great encouragement!
