Paul writes, “On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.” [2 Cor. 1:10b-11]
Stop and think for a moment of a time when your prayers have helped someone and someone’s prayers have helped you.
Did you ever realize how valuable your prayers are?
I’ve been thinking on this verse for a few weeks, chewing on it. I have been thinking how incredible it is that we can receive help from each other as we pray. I can assist you in your endeavors and you can assist me. Wow!
I have come to be so thankful that I have a precious and mighty Savior who prays for me.
Romans 8:34 says “Christ Jesus, who dies—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” Once a few years ago when I was dropping my girls off at school, I drove out of the parking lot and began to pray for them as I often do, and clearly, as clear as if He was in the car speaking to me, I could hear the Lord’s voice praying for me as I prayed for them. It was one of the most remarkable and amazing experiences that I have had in prayer with Jesus my Lord and it gave me a clearer and whole new understanding of the truth written in Romans 8:34.
How thankful I am to be involved with a Church body that values prayer and prays at a moments notice. I am so blessed for all that I have learned here, in this house of God about prayer, not only from all the teaching; but just having the great opportunities to pray with you. I love being prayed with and for. I have been so blessed as our youth, children and adults have prayed for me and with me over the years. I am truly blessed in this fellowship of believers and grateful for your prayers, and so thankful for the opportunities to pray for you and with you.
As Paul was writing about his ministry in 2 Corinthians Chapter 1, he was talking about all that they, he, had been through and that they never would have made it without God, whom they relied on, and the prayers of others.
Think about this a little more in the coming weeks as the Lord gives you opportunity to pray with and for others. Perhaps the Lord will put someone on your heart suddenly who needs prayer. Or perhaps, he will give you the great privilege of praying with someone. Remember don’t ever believe that you won’t know what to say, or that you don’t pray well enough. Talk to God from your heart, He hears and moves His hand accordingly as He knows is needed. He hears the prayers that are small and quick, “Jesus save me!”, “Jesus, heal my mommy and daddy”, and he hears the prayers that are much more detailed. He is always listening and ever interceding for us.
“As you help us by your prayers”, or should we say,
As we help each other by our prayers.
Thankfully, we can say with all certainty “Jesus helps us by His prayers!”
