Prayer has to be the most talked about and least acted on activity in the church - probably because prayer is so misunderstood. So often we read off a list of “requests” to God when we make time, ask God’s blessing over our food, or cry out to Him in the midst of times of need. But prayer is supposed to be about an intimate relationship with God. For that to happen we have to realize that to have an intimate relationship with God we need to not only talk to God, but it is essential that we listen to what God has to say to us as well. At Village Chapel we see prayer as one of the essential elements to ministry and relationship. For life to change, we need God’s help in every way. For us to receive God’s help, we need to listen to His direction. It’s wonderful to know that not only can we learn from what God has to say, but we can also help others by listening to what God is speaking into their lives. We pray during our Worship Celebration, we pray during our commitment to 24 hours of prayer each month, we pray over the phone for each other, we pray when we are in need, we pray when we are grateful, we teach our children to pray, we pray during our Youth Group meetings – we pray. We have found that praying together is essential for unity. It is the ministry of prayer that draws our hearts together in agreement with what God wants to have done through our ministries. Other than worship, which includes prayer, nothing we do is as important for our lives, our Church, our community, our state, our nation or the world. If you don’t know how to pray, come join us, we’ll be happy to teach you. We hold Prayer Seminars, Prayer Gatherings. We have prayer partners, and when we pray for healing God often moves powerfully. Why? Because we ask Him to demonstrate His power and love. How do we ask? By praying, of course.
